Shaoor Foundation for Education and Awareness (SFEA) is executing a project “Aaghaz” in four different diverse religious background Madrassahas in Karachi. The project is a 9-month activity that seeks to increase tolerance, acceptance and pluralism in students and teachers from the diverse religious backgrounds, which will be conducted in Jamia Binoria Al-Alimiyah (Deobandi school of thought), Jamia Sattaria Al Islamiya (Ahle Hadith school of thought), Aleemiyah Institute of Islamic Studies (Bralvi school of thought), and Jamia Tul Mustafa (Ahle Tashee school of thought).
The project will also ensure community leaders’ engagement in collective peacebuilding activities in the project intervention. The main objectives of the projects are; To Increase engagement of students and teachers to promote peace messages in their areas of influence, To increase acceptance of pluralism in targeted communities and to enhance tolerance within and across communities.
The project activities are to identify teachers and students from the targeted madrassahas, conduct teachers’ Capacity Building training, arrange Peace Workshops with students from the targeted Madrassahas, conduct Inter-school exchange program, organize Social Action Projects by the nominated students, conduct Peace Dialogues and to end the project, the project team will organize a “reflection seminar”. The project will engage 200 direct beneficiaries (160 students and 40 teachers, of these 100 will be female and 100 male beneficiaries), while engaged 720 indirect beneficiaries through Social Action Projects (SAPs), Peace Dialogues 720 of these 50% will be female participation.
